A home away from home

Relax, recharge and try something new.

Short Term Respite (STR) is a short stay away from your usual home. You might hear it called respite care, or it used to be known as Short Term Accommodation (STA) under the NDIS.

During your stay, you get to relax, try new things and meet new people. Your family or carers get a well-earned break from their caring role too.

You can stay in one of our welcoming respite homes, or we can support you in your own home while your usual carers takes a break.

Note: Short Term Respite is different to Medium Term Accommodation (MTA). MTA is for longer stays of up to 90 days while you’re between homes or waiting for other supports.

NDIS support categories: Short Term Respite is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan.

STR might be stated in your plan, but even if it isn’t, you may still be able to use your Core funding for respite, as long as it fits within your budget and won’t affect your other approved supports.

If you need longer term accommodation, options like Supported Independent Living or Medium Term Accommodation might suit you better.

Please note: We bill in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which generally increases annually.
