Our Burleigh Happy Place performers have done it again, spreading laughter and cheer at a recent event at the Mudgeeraba Special School.

Participants Anthea and Clown Doctor ‘Smiley Riley’ (pictured) were part of the line up, performing their singing and comedic acts for fans. Another participant, Jacinta used Auslan to communicate the acts with deaf and hard of hearing children in the audience.

The show featured crowd favourites such as songs from The Greatest Showman and the Spice Girls.

Support Worker, Deborah Carter said, “the whole morning was so beautiful, the younger students came to the front and were dancing along, our performers received huge rounds of applause and cheers, they were just wrapped afterward, and we’ve already been invited back!”.

It was an especially meaningful moment for long-term Participant Anthea, who graduated from Mudgeeraba Special School 25 years ago. Returning to perform for current students made the day even more special.

When asked what message she’d share with the students about life after school, Anthea smiled and said, “you can do what I’m doing too.” After all, it’s your way, the Aruma Way.

The showcase featured participants and staff performing together, showcasing passion, talent, purpose and the magic that is created by diversity in the community.

Great job, team. Let’s keep the laughs coming!
