Grow your skills. Grow your independence. Your way.

Learn new skills at your own pace, with support that fits your goals

Our capacity building supports help you learn new daily living skills, grow your confidence, and work towards your independence goals.

Our support workers work alongside you at your own pace. We celebrate the small wins and help you build towards bigger goals. Whether you’re moving out for the first time, want to develop work skills, or simply want to do more things on your own, we shape our support around your goals and how you learn best.

Every skill you gain is a step towards the independence you want.

Build skills your way

Independence, your way

We run several community-based disability groups you can join. Each one is designed around different interests and vibes.

Your capacity building questions answered

Capacity building is one of three support budgets in your NDIS plan. It helps you build skills and independence for the long term.

Unlike Core supports (which help with everyday needs), Capacity Building supports focus on helping you learn new things and become more independent over time.

This includes skills like cooking, budgeting, catching public transport, building social connections, and preparing for work.

Core supports help with your everyday needs right now. They’re flexible and can be used across different areas of daily life.

Capacity building supports help you learn new skills and grow your independence over time. The funding in each capacity building category can only be used in that specific category.

Both types of funding work together to help you live your best life.

Aruma provides capacity building supports for:

  • Daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, personal care)
  • Money management and budgeting
  • Goal planning and decision making
  • Using public transport
  • Social and community participation
  • Employment and work readiness

We focus on in-home and community-based capacity building. For therapy-related capacity building (like speech therapy or occupational therapy), visit our Therapy Services page.

Yes! We run group programs like Club Aruma Café and school leaver supports where you can build skills alongside others. Groups are kept small so everyone feels supported.

Capacity building can be funded under several NDIS categories, including:

CB Daily Activity (Improved Daily Living): Training and support for daily living skills, independence and community participation.

CB Social Community and Civic Participation: Skills development to help you participate in community, social and recreational activities.

CB Employment: Support to help you find and keep a job.

Chat to our team if you’re not sure how your funding works or which category applies to your goals.

Please note: We bill in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which generally increases annually.
