Assessment, plan and ongoing support

We provide a comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support service that includes a detailed assessment of behaviours of concern to understand their function and contributing factors. Based on this assessment, we develop an individualised Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) that outlines evidence-based, proactive and responsive strategies aimed at reducing behaviours of concern while supporting the participant’s quality of life.

This service goes beyond the plan. It includes ongoing intervention through regular monitoring, review and implementation support. We also provide training and capacity building for the participant, family members and key stakeholders to make sure strategies are used consistently and effectively across all environments.

Where required, we provide guidance, development and oversight in relation to restrictive practices. This is always done in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements, with a focus on least-restrictive, rights-based approaches.

Your questions answered

Once a Behaviour Support Plan is in place, our practitioners continue to work with you through regular monitoring, review and implementation support. This means checking that strategies are working, adjusting them as needs change, and making sure everyone involved in the person’s support is confident using them.

The goal is to make sure the plan stays effective and reflects the person’s current needs and goals.

We provide training for the participant, family members, carers and key stakeholders such as support workers and teachers. This can include individual coaching, small group training and hands-on support to help everyone implement strategies consistently across different environments. Training is practical and tailored to the people involved, so it works in real life, not just on paper.

Restrictive practices are any practice or intervention that restricts the rights or freedom of movement of a person in response to behaviours of concern.

Within the NDIS context, there are five main categories: chemical restraint, physical restraint, mechanical restraint, environmental restraint and seclusion.

Under PBS, restrictive practices are used only as a last resort, are subject to strict approval and oversight, and are actively worked towards being reduced and eliminated. Where restrictive practices are in place, we provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements.

The assessment and plan service focuses on completing the assessment and developing an individualised Behaviour Support Plan. This service includes all of that, plus ongoing intervention, regular review and training for everyone involved in the person’s support. It is designed for people who need sustained support beyond the initial plan, including capacity building across their support network and, where required, oversight of restrictive practices

The NDIS provides funding for Therapy and Clinical Supports. The most common NDIS categories of support for Behaviour Support include Improved Daily Living, Improved Relationships and Support Coordination.

We bill in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which is updated every year.
