Aruma has partnered with the NSW Government to deliver five modern, safe and accessible homes for people with disability, in Wyee, in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales.
The 25th of July marked the completion of the first three homes, fully tailored to enhance the quality of life for the new residents.

“At Aruma, our goal is to support people with disability to live the life that they want and that they choose. These homes will enhance the quality of life for our NDIS participants and support their independence,” said Chief Operating Officer, Lylea Mcmahon.
The first three homes are classified as Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) with a non-SDA villa. The two upcoming homes will be non-SDA sites and are scheduled for completion in 2026.
“It took about three years from end to end to complete these homes. They will allow us to provide support for residents with mobility challenges, sensory, cognitive and intellectual impairments and high-support needs,” said Lylea.
The homes are near the community village, train station, community support and schools. There is also access to the freeway, making trips to Sydney and Newcastle easy. All sites have Australian Standards Fire Safety features (including fire sprinklers and second egress points), which are unique in the current market.
We turned the first sod on the Wyee building site in 2023, and it was a proud moment for all at Aruma to see the first of the five homes completed.
