Love is all around

Check out how these supported employees fell in love at Summerland Farm.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
There is love at Summerland Farm,
Especially between these two…

Meet Arron and Bec! Their love story began back in 2012 at Summerland Farm

“I remember working at the Farm over the Christmas break like I always had been and Bec was working in the old nursery that is now the hub. We started having morning tea and lunch together, and our relationship grew from there. I knew straight away that she was special,” shared Arron.

Arron started at Summerland Farm just two months before Bec and both are now going on 16 years at the farm. Bec works primarily in the Hub serving customers, working the till, and making some delicious coffees while Arron is out on the fields preparing for the avocado and macadamia harvesting season.

The love birds had their first official date at the Ballina cinema and now 12 years down the track, they are celebrating their second Valentines Day engaged.

“We got engaged almost two years ago now in 2022. It was a very special day and I proposed when we went to one of our favourite holiday’s locations in Gunnedah, out west. We celebrated with a nice tea and enjoyed the rest of our holiday,” said Arron.

Going on holidays together has become one of the pairs favourite things to do together. They love to celebrate birthdays and special events with a holiday and one of their favourite trips was to Port Macquarie. The pair love travelling so much that they are already on their first trip of 2024.

“It’s Arron’s birthday in February so we’ve started a road trip with some tent camping. We’ve driven to Dubbo and now we are in Bathurst for a few days. We’ve already hit 1,200 kilometres since leaving Alstonville. Next, we are heading down to the Blue Mountains,” said Bec.

This year they will still be on the road on Valentine’s Day but plan to celebrate by going to a nice Thai restaurant and finishing off the night with some ice cream. When asked what they love most about each other, the answers were almost identical and Bec summed it up well:

“The best thing is the company we give each other and our deep understanding of each other. We both have a background in farming, my family had a banana and rose plantation and Arron’s family had a dairy farm for 22 years. We also understand and balance each other’s personality’s very well.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!
