Aruma’s Supported Employee’s from the Warabrook Metalwork Manufacturing site love what they do and seeing their work have a positive impact on the community.

One of the businesses they supply to, Downer Group, recently invited the team down to their Hexham Manufacturing facility for a VIP tour of the site. During the visit, Downer filmed a video about our collaboration. You can check it out here.

“The day was a great success and I know our team and supported employees got a lot out of the tour. For the guys to have the opportunity to see where their part of the project fits into the bigger picture was invaluable,” said Production Coordinator, Brent Robards.

The visit to the Downer site gave Aruma’s supported employees a unique insight into how their contributions integrate into Downer’s manufacturing process, highlighting the powerful impact of inclusive employment practices on community and industry.

He added, “I know the day will be talked about for a long time to come. We look forward to further building on our relationship with Downer.”

Aruma began working with Downer in 2023 as one of their key suppliers for manufacturing components including preformed cable, terminal mounting strips, and other critical components, ensuring seamless project execution.

This componentry goes into the manufacture of switchboards and other important electrical equipment that ensures the safe and efficient running of industrial and gas gathering facilities around Australia.

“Downer’s collaboration with Aruma is a testament to our dedication to enabling communities to thrive,” said Aaron Wylie, General Manager – Future Energy Solutions. “We were excited to welcome the Aruma team and showcase how their valuable contributions integrate into our manufacturing operations.”

“Engaging with diverse businesses like Aruma isn’t merely symbolic – it has a real, tangible impact on our operations. Their high-quality work enhances our project delivery, benefiting both our business and the end customers we serve,” he added.

Downer currently employs 100 people from across the region, and the Hexham facility has been a cornerstone in the Newcastle area for over 40 years. They offer comprehensive manufacturing solutions such as switchboard and switch rooms, skid fabrication, structural steel fabrication, fitting, and machining.
