New year, new home!

Check out our newest build in Victoria and get to know Alicia, who will be our first resident.

January 17, 2024

On Monday, the 15th of January, we said hello to our new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home in Tarneit, a suburb West of Melbourne.

The open day was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the completion of a job well done with the Melbourne-based custom installation and construction company, inhab, meet potential residents, and get to know the neighbours.

“The open day went really well, and there was great feedback from everyone who toured the site,” said Tom Torchia, Customer Engagement Manager.

24-year-old Alicia will be the first resident to move into the three-bedroom home this week. Alicia looks forward to settling into the friendly neighbourhood and taking advantage of the home’s proximity to a range of dining and shopping options.

“After many years of living in a private rental, Alicia is looking forward to this next chapter of her life and moving into a new home. There will be lots of opportunities to explore and meet new people and participate in different activities within the local community,” said Alicia’s Support Coordinator, Kerri.

She continued, “Alicia would like to thank Aruma for providing her with this opportunity.”

The modern home has an open plan kitchen, dining, and living spaces fitted with modern technology, heating and cooling, and a fully fenced backyard with an outdoor entertaining area and BBQ. Each bedroom features a private ensuite bathroom for comfort and privacy, Built-in wardrobes with ample storage space, and laminate flooring.

Alicia looks forward to meeting and building friendships with two other housemates soon.

“Alicia is looking forward to sharing her new home with housemates. There is plenty of room, and everyone will have their own bedrooms and bathrooms,” said Kerri.

Tarneit is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in outer Melbourne, and in the next two decades, the population is anticipated to grow by 164%.

“This demand tells us we’re in the right place to offer people with a disability much-needed stability and security now and into the future. Currently, there are more than 48 people with a disability in the City of Wyndham region alone looking for a suitable property that meets their needs,” said Sandra Pointon, General Manager Business Development.
