Kate finds a new sense of self on her journey to pet parenthood.
There’s something universally comforting about having a furry friend by your side. Whether it’s a dog, cat, horse, or another animal, pets bring joy and companionship into our lives.
For Aruma resident Kate Towers from Baulkham Hills, she has been working towards owning a cat for years, and her goal was recently fulfilled by heading to the local animal adoption centre.
“My new cat is Neveah. We got her from the Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre, and she was almost 3 months old. She is settling in very well and I love her,” said Kate.
Kate’s Support Worker, Khatereh Bagheri has worked with her for almost seven years. She said that she has seen many changes in Kate over that time, but that she’s definitely been happier since getting Neveah.
“Kate is loving life and loves having Neveah. She enjoys the responsibility and is great at looking after her. She buys everything Neveah needs, we take her to the vet when she needs it during our 1:1 time, and her latest goal has been to give Neveah the best life she can,” said Khatereh.
Whilst Neveah is an indoor cat, she also has an outdoor cat enclosure that was built with help from Kate’s family and the Hills Men’s Shed volunteers.
Kate’s support network really has thought of everything!
Kate added, “Neveah is giving me companionship and she is lowering my stress levels. I also like that I have something that I own and take care of.”
While Kate doesn’t plan on getting any other pets anytime soon, she is looking forward to making lots of lovely memories with Neveah.
