It was another great year at the Festival of Fun on the Gold Coast. Did you see us there?

Aruma participants and staff recently helped bring the fun to the Festival of Fun, an inclusive and accessible celebration of the Gold Coast community.

2024 marked our second year as sponsors of the inaugural family-friendly event that aims to bring people of all abilities together for a day of live music and awesome activities.

“Everyone was having so much fun, and the event was buzzing! Seeing so many of our participants and staff attending from across Queensland and New South Wales was fantastic. Many travelled to attend the event,” said our Customer Engagement Manager for Queensland, Annette.

The event was created by not-for-profit charity, The ARHG Foundation, whose aim has always been to “empower people with a disability to live a fuller, more enjoyable life.” Everyone is welcome at the Festival of Fun; however, it’s refreshing to see that the event has been specifically designed and tailored for people with a disability and their families, friends, carers, and guardians.

On the day, festivalgoers were encouraged to try new things, socialise, and enjoy the entertainment.

There was a “Try Me Sports Arena” where they could meet leading sports people, service providers and test-drive a range of sports. The “Fun Space” was a hit and had balloon artists, face painters, a mini petting farm and musical instruments. Attendees could also stop by the “All About You Expo” and connect with Service Providers.

“We had many people visit our stall who were keen to learn more about Aruma and the support we offer. We met a young lady who was looking to join some groups on the Gold Coast, so I introduced her to our School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) group, who were also at the event. They gave her some firsthand information on the programs they do.”

Of course, there was lots of singing, dancing, laughter and performances from popular Australian entertainers.

“The highlight for me was watching our customers get out on the dance floor, having a great time, and enjoying mingling with new and familiar friends,” said Annette.

As a proud sponsor of the event, we love seeing our community come together to celebrate people with disability and share what Aruma is all about.
