Providing sausages, smiles and support to flood affected communities.
There’s nothing quite like the smell of sausages sizzling on the BBQ to bring a community together, and that’s exactly what Club Aruma’s been doing in Taree!
Club Aruma fired up the grill outside the Catholic Church on Albert Street to host a free sausage sizzle for locals impacted by the recent floods. It was also a special treat for the hardworking volunteers helping with recovery efforts.
“We really wanted to do something to support our community. These floods have been devastating, and so many people have lost a lot,” said Daniel Romer, Club Aruma Community Manager.
The team were out on Tuesday, May 27th, and again on Tuesday, June 3rd, from around 11am to 1.30pm (or until the sausages ran out) to give back to the community.
“The event was a huge success. We had a great turnout of around 400-500 people, and we gave out around 400-500 of sausage sizzles and 60 cupcakes. I am so thankful to my team for bringing this together, and of course our participants who got involved. It was a lovely way for them to get involved in the community,” said Daniel.
Even NBN News stopped by to see the action.
According to the NSW State Emergency Services, “The Manning River flooded at a level never seen before at Taree. It surpassed the 1929 record of six metres.”
Thankfully, the town is now in the recovery phase.
If you are affected by the floods, the NSW Government website offers information on financial, insurance, and legal support available to flood-affected communities.
