School Leavers Employment Support (SLES) at
Summerland Farm

We are excited to announce our new School Leavers Employment Support (SLES), commencing in February 2024 based at our beautiful Summerland Farm in Alstonville.  

The SLES program is tailored for students and school leavers who are seeking additional experience, and development of job readiness skills to achieve their employment goals.  

Summerland Farm is the ideal location for SLES, offering a great range of training and capacity building across the many areas of business on site.  

SLES Capacity Building: 

• Preparing for Work
• Job Interests and Pathways
• Travel Independence
• Time Management
• Communication and Confidence Building
• Payslips and Budgeting
• Mental Health and Wellbeing
• Workplace Safety
• Using Digital Technology

Workplace Training and Experience: 

Participants can select a range of work training opportunities and discover a new a career path: 

• Restaurant and functions – Kitchen hands, baristas, register operator and customer service, event preparation.
• Retail hub – Tours and ticket booth operators, animal tours and animal care.
• Horticulture – Fruit Packers, fruit graders, forklift operators, macadamia sorting.
• Farm Operations – Fruit pickers, machinery operators, grounds maintenance, tractor drivers and machinery repairs maintenance.
• Reception – Use of computer and phones, taking messages and a range of administration tasks.
• Egg farming – Collection, egg grading and packing.
• Cleaners – Cleaning and hygiene duties across the farm.
• Landscape and lawn maintenance – Gardening, lawn maintenance, cleaning, maintaining.
• Community participation – Contributing within the community and goodwill.
