Hon. John Ajaka: It’s very exciting. Today the NDIS commences to roll out in New South Wales. For the first half of New South Wales, today, and in 12 months’ time the rest of New South Wales.

The NDIS, what people with disability their families and carers, fought so hard for has become a reality.

John Della Bosca: It will improve the lives of tens of thousands and eventually hundreds of thousands of Australians living the disability, providing full and comprehensive support in the community and making sure that people have greater choice and control their lives.

Hon. John Ajaka: I’ve had the honour of traveling the state and being able to meet so many incredible people with disability, their families and carers, and I know that they are extremely excited about today.

John Della Bosca: And of course, the most important thing is to thank all of our supporters who have been with us through what’s been a long haul. Five and a half years, of campaigning to achieve this day and now it’s here.

The only thing left to do is to make sure that the NDIS is the best it can possibly be.

Hon. John Ajaka: John and I stand here today to prove there is no politics in this. This is about us all working together from all sides of politics and from all community groups.

Again, it’s just wonderful news.
