Victoria Restrictions

Parts of Victoria are returning to full ‘stay at home’ restrictions. Find out what this means for Aruma services.

Information current as at 07th July 2020

From midnight 8 July metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will be on Stage 3 restrictions due to the recent spike in cases of COVID-19.

This means these areas are back to full ‘stay at home’ restrictions. These restrictions have been imposed for the next 6 weeks.

There are now only four reasons people can leave their home:

  • Work or school
  • Care and support
  • Exercise
  • Essential shopping.

Travel into and out of these areas should be restricted.

Information about Aruma’s services

Aruma has Supported Independent Living homes in Victoria and we are working closely with each of these homes to ensure they are well supported.

We have developed specific protocols which outline our response to the restrictions. We are in contact with the families from these homes and are working to ensure all our customers are safe.

We also have processes in place should any positive cases occur.

What happens to services in a restricted area?

If your service is located in one of the identified restricted areas, the following restrictions will apply. These are in line with Government advice.

  • Visitors are not permitted to our SIL Group Home environment as per the Directive for Care Facilities in effect unless providing Care and Support. Find out more about what Care and Support means.
  • Visitors must comply with all Aruma screening and infection control measures in place including social distancing and hand hygiene practices
  • Overnight stays and weekends away from the SIL home are not permitted
  • Customers are not permitted to visit other households
  • Any customer returning to the SIL after an extended period of time away will require a statutory declaration
  • No third-party providers will be permitted in the home
  • Any non-essential supports to be postponed
  • Strongly encourage customers to stay at home
  • No community hub services will be open
  • No respite services will be open

These are in place until further notice.

What happens if my support staff live outside the restricted areas?

We are making provision to support our essential workers to continue to support our customers.

Where staff live outside an area that is under Stage 3 restrictions, we have ensured that they have the required documentation and support to travel to and from services. They will also follow Aruma’s strict infection control protocols and processes.

Do we have enough Personal Protective Equipment and essential supplies?

Yes! We are working closely with the local teams to ensure they have adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as other essential supplies.
