It can be overwhelming moving to a new town, but with support from his Home and Living Team at Aruma, Greg is settling into life in Tamworth NSW and is enjoying getting involved in his new community.

Greg loves music, and since joining Club Aruma in January, he’s taken on the unofficial role of DJ! So, what better way to experience Tamworth than at the famous Tamworth Country Music Festival? He even met Aussie country music legend, Troy Cassar Daley, at the festival.

“I liked going to the festival and it was cool to meet a celebrity,” he says.

Greg is also a budding MasterChef.

“I am really good at cooking. I love to cook! I cook recipes like sausage rolls, spaghetti bolognese, and chicken and bacon carbonara.”

Every Tuesday, Greg cooks and meal preps together with Belinda, his support worker. Belinda is supporting him to build his independence and learn new cooking techniques.

He takes some of the meals he cooks home for his mum and stepdad to try and leaves some at the Club Aruma hub for his lunches.

The team plans to host a Club Aruma BBQ at Bunnings later in the year, and of course, Greg will be the head chef!

Greg’s goals don’t stop with cooking. He’s hoping to complete a course soon and find a job in Tamworth.

Greg’s journey with Aruma highlights the power of person-centred support. From learning to cook to getting involved in his new community, Greg is smashing his goals, and we can’t wait to see what he gets up to next.
