The team enjoyed a fun-filled day out enjoying the annual Show.
The annual Sydney Royal Easter Show welcomed approximately 800,000 visitors this year, with this number including a lucky group of Club Aruma participants from Lake Illawarra.
Sarah, Danyal and Naomi, along with their support workers, Matt, Chloe and Sharni, had an absolute blast checking out all the fun.
The trio had been looking forward to this day for months, while Naomi and Sarah have attended the Show in the past, it was Danyal’s first time, so the group was extra excited to share the experience together. Danyal was so overcome by the excitement he wrapped Matt in a big bear hug on arrival.
“Sarah, Danyal and Naomi agreed that it was too hard to pick just one highlight from the day. They had a fantastic time watching the horse jumping, wood chopping, watching the parade and participating in the many activities the Show had to offer,” said Catherine McMaster, Community Manager.
The show bag stall was another highlight where the group shopped until they dropped.
Thanks to special accessibility measures at the event, including ramps, accessible seating, and staff trained to assist visitors with disabilities, the group were able to experience the magic of the show, just like everyone else.
“We did our research and found out there is a cart car available for transfers from the car park to the show, to avoid a long walk. They also had a wheelchair and scooter hire which was great to see,” said Catherine.
The group spoke so highly of their experience and their support workers said their highlight was seeing how much the participants enjoyed themselves, engaging in the activities and the company of each other.
