Celebrating 35 years at Summerland Farm

Supported Employees Leanne and Royce have seen lots of changes over several decades working at our farm.

We always love celebrating an anniversary and 35 years is a big one! That’s how long our Supported Employees, Royce and Leanne, have been part of the Summerland Farm family.

The duo joined the team back when the farm was just a small restaurant and a couple of packing sheds. They’ve certainly seen quite a few changes since then!

If you’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a tractor tour of the farm, Royce may well have been your driver. He also drives the bus that transports Supported Employees to and from Alstonville each day and helps with many other tasks around the farm.

Leanne has worked in lots of areas during her time at the farm too. She started in the packing shed, before moving to sorting nuts. Later she worked in the nursery, taking care of the plants and birds. Leanne now works in the canteen and admin team.

The friends say that they both enjoy the social aspect of their jobs the most – Royce’s nickname is ‘Mr. Have a Chat’ after all!

They also loved travelling with other Summerland Farm Supported Employees around Australia and overseas. A highlight is always meeting new people and experiencing other cultures.

Join us in saying congrats to Royce and Leanne on such an incredible milestone! Read more about supported employment here.
