Hi my name is Joel I live with four other blokes in a house on the Central Coast. We are all differently-abled, so we have a team to support us 24/7. That doesn’t mean that they are my whole life though.

I’ll tell you a little more about me…

I enjoy hanging out with other guys, meeting lovely ladies, playing the organ, watching V8 racing and having a cold drink on a hot day, and of course I love my mum and her cooking.

During the week I do stuff with friends, and I am a member of a few local clubs. On Tuesday evenings I like to go to the Sports Bar at Kincumber pub & put on a few bets, and watch the Dogs race live! I’ve even met a few of the owners with their dogs.

Recently I went to a Trivia night at Davistown RSL. The MC there is called Brad, and he is hilarious! The photo attached to this story is me exploding with laughter over one of his jokes.

Saturday is my day off, I like to sit on the lounge and watch Foxtel or DVDs. Of course I have plenty of DVDs with V8 races! I love the sound of the engines, and watching cars crash.

Sunday I enjoy the afternoon hanging out with my house mates for a club lunch or picnic. The locals at Kincumber pub and Davistown RSL often come up for a chat. I prefer coke to beer though! Recently I have been to special events such as the Monster Trucks in Newcastle and the V8 Super cars in Sydney. Both activities were loud and exciting.

I have a Facebook page where I keep in contact with family and friends. There are lots of photos that show everyone what I’ve been up to. I’m hoping to download an app on the iPad that I can sync to my TV, to enable me to change channels myself!

As you can see, I have an active life. I have many opportunities to try new things, and with the support of House with No Steps (now Aruma) I know I will achieve my goals and live my life as independently as possible.
