Meet Yasmin, Aruma’s Sydney Regional Manager of Shared Living

This month, we sat down with Yasmin Alameddin, Aruma’s Regional Manager of Shared Living in Sydney to learn more about how her culture has influenced her work here at Aruma.

This month there’s been a big focus on culture and diversity around Aruma.

In wanting to learn more about the diverse cultures around Aruma, we had a chat with Yasmin Alameddin, Aruma’s Regional Manager of Shared Living in Sydney.

For Yasmin, being Lebanese Muslim is not just about tradition—it’s about the values that have shaped her into the person she is today.

“I am proud of my heritage and the traditions I grew up with. They have made me into the person I am today, helping to build my strengths, character, and personal values,” she says.

Growing up in a multicultural suburb, Yasmin learnt the importance of cultural awareness and the value of diverse perspectives from a young age. Her cultural background and experience also shape how she manages her team and interacts with people with disability.

Yasmin encourages her team to actively engage with cultural and religious events with customers, and to plan ahead for things like dietary preferences (e.g., halal, kosher, vegan foods). This proactive approach ensures that Aruma’s services are both respectful and inclusive of diverse cultural practices.

One of Yasmin’s favourite cultural traditions is celebrating Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection, empathy, and increased worship.

“Then I enjoy celebrating Eid Al Fitr. We celebrate with friends and family, reflect on the holy month, and share traditional foods, lots of Eid sweets, and gifts,” she says.

Thank you, Yasmin, for sharing your story and culture with us!
