How the design of future NDIS homes is giving choice to people with a disability
Australia’s in the grip of a National housing crisis, particularly when it comes to Specialist Disability Housing, with lots of people with a disability currently looking for an appropriate place to call home.
Focused on bridging the gap, Aruma is working closely with developers and building partners to build more specialist disability accommodation options where they are needed most.
“Most of the Housing currently available for people with a disability was not designed or located for their needs and preferences. It’s important that we continue to work with all stakeholders to achieve better designed homes for the future, with capacity to grow and change to suit individual wants and needs.” said National Business Development Manager, Karen Burke.
“We’ve been working closely with SDA providers and our human rights advisers to really understand how people choose to live and how we can design homes that allow people to live more independently with the support of assistive technology. We believe that the focus should always be on maximising the ability for someone to live their best life.
